The Coaching Tree: Bull & Markey

Season five is officially open, and the guys don't ease into it. Tom, Biz (voice half-gone, showing up anyway), and Coach Curley welcome two of Juniata's own back to The Nest: Garrett Bull (class of 2008) and Nathan Markey (class of 2020), now coaching together at West York and fresh off being named the PIAA 5A Boys Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year after a 29-3 run to the state championship game.

Ten years apart at Juniata, cut from the same cloth. Bull talks the back-to-back conference finals teams that helped end decades of losing basketball. Markey remembers the house-on-fire season that delivered the program's first regular-season title. Along the way: how they both wound up in Huntingdon, the film session nobody saw coming after a quiet trip home over winter break, and a Brian Cannon story involving a one-credit class and seven missed weeks.

Then it gets competitive. A snake-draft of the all-time Juniata starting five turns into a friendly turf war (Cannon goes early, naturally) before the alumni hand Coach some advice heading into year 26. Plus a big one: a new production partner. Merrick Studios teams up with 16803 Media, and there may be a book in the works on how other programs can build what's been built here.
